Wiggles, Wrinkles and Bumps

Wiggle: Those of you who put our special contest badge on your site need to email me with your physical address so I can get you your prize. The original plan was to hold a drawing among you to see who wins, but thanks to a deal we worked with J. Stockard Fly Fishing you’re all going to win! Just include a link to your website/blog, too.

Wrinkles: Does anyone have any idea how to plan a cross country trip? ;)

Bumps: I need some “bumps” in the road! We’re going to team up the Angling Across America idea with the OBN/TU trip to Montana and I’d like to fish with and/or meet some of my fellow outdoor bloggers! Hopefully, we’ll get an EPIC video out of this thing and you’ll get your chance to be a part of it. And I’ll get to meet the people behind the blogs I’ve been reading for so long! Sound like fun?

I’ll be travelling along the straightest possible route from GA to CO, and then from CO up to the “backside” of Montana to Centennial Valley. ( Do they have trout there? :) )

If you are located along this route ( COFISHER ) and would like to fish, meet, have lunch, dance, walk funny, or run from bears…..let me know. I’d love to meet you and get you into the video. If you wan to meet, have lunch, dance, walk funny, or run from bears and NOT be on the video – that’s fine too. Being filmed doing something stupid isn’t a requirement. Again, that’s as straight a line as possible from North GA to Colorado. Fishing not required, lunch would be fine or even a Snickers on your 10 minute break. ;)

Bump #2: I’ll be looking for places to stay. Now here is where it gets a little weird. I’d prefer to sleep in a tent or in my truck, and not in your home. The reason is two-fold: One, I’m known for my snoring. Two, I have allergies that can be triggered by any number of things including strong smells, pet dander, scents, perfume, dust, different types of wood – you name it, I can have a reaction to it. ( I know, it’s weird, but you couple my allergies acting up with my already world-famous snoring and I might just wake the whole block)

So, If you have somewhere I could crash in my truck, or set up my tent that would be awesome! Your driveway, a local campground, some land somewhere, etc. And keep in mind this is the plan for now. If I decide to fly or go ahead and reserve commercial camping space beforehand, it could all change. Just throwing this out there now though, because as of today I have less than a month to plan this thing. ( because obviously, if I’m driving the 2000 miles out there and back, I’ll need to leave almost a week early to stop and fish or visit with people along the way! :) )

And if anyone would like to donate funds for fuel, I would humbly accept the help with more gratitude than you could imagine.

But we’re doing this, one way or another. Who knows? I may never get this chance again. . .

Oh, and I almost forgot! The Angling Across America page is back up! Just click the link/tab at the top of the page to check on updated news, thoughts, plans, etc!

I’m thinking of a way to help you out Owl. I may have a camper for you to stay in if my niece doesn’t take it before you get here. I’d invite you to stay in house, but my dog doesn’t like Southern cooking and is on a diet anyway. The cats don’t like loud snoring or farting and my wife doesn’t much care for any of my friends. We’ll figure out something.

Way to go owl, I’d send ya a sock full of pennies to help out but I don’t think it would make it there. Do you still have my address? If not email me and let me Know.

Wait a sec……….you won a trip to Montan-er, but you gotta pay fer it?? What did you really win?? I’m lost.

Owl Jones June 21, 2011 at 8:55 pm

I have to get there…but what I won was 4 days and 3 nights at a Montana ranch, free food, some guided (semi-pro?) fishing, some conservation tours of what TU has done out there and who knows what else? I’m guessing I’m getting about $2000 worth of free here ( you know how I eat. ;) LOL ) and all I have to do is get to the place. ( which I’ve already found on mapquest and I’m plotting my route into there! )

I say you drive it and see as much as you can. Its a trip of a lifetime and you’ve got the time, right?

Owl Jones June 21, 2011 at 8:56 pm

Yeah, but I was talking tonight……….any chance you can make any of it? ( I mean, if you want to still ) You’re more than welcome to park a car at my house and do the whole thing with me! Joe and Chris would hate you forever, but hey – that’s a small price to pay right? :)
