Because of all the rain ( which hit us without the deadly twisters, thankfully) there wasn’t a whole lotta fishin’ goin’ on last weekend for River Damsel, Mark and myself. Instead, there was alot of sight-seeing, driving around trying to find decent water to fish (ie: anything that didn’t look like The Great Flood) and joking around. This video reflects our weekend pretty well. RD was “plugged in” whenever possible, Mark was quiet but very helpful, and I…well…I “acted the fool.” Surprise!
We educated RD on some fine Southern culture, vocabulary and food. Boiled P-Nuts? Liked. Fried Pies? Liked. Pork Rinds? Not so much. ( They were even BBQ flavored, c’mon! ). She wasn’t quite here long enough for her family and friends back home to wonder why she was “talking funny” but if she comes back for a week sometime, we can fix that. Dern tootin’ y’all.
We also found out just how little RD knew about the South during our trip. But hey, I mean…there’s probably alot more that I don’t know about the west! I only regret that we didnt’ get to show her a house covered in kudzu. ( It’s not growing very much yet…) Oh, and that the drink machine at the campground was out of Peach Nehi.
And before I forget to make sure you catch it – just for you River Damsel Queen of the River Sprites………. this video includes a mighty fine version of “Rocky Top.” We expect you to know all the words to it, Georgia on My Mind, and “Dixie” before you come back.
lol

Hey, I can lead you to the stream, but I can’t put the fish on the hook for ya.
Could you put a cricket on the hook for me?
LOL
Well I might take your fish off the hook for you.
Well, don’t hold your breath then. It might be a mighty long wait for that!
LOL
You crack me up.
My favorite is ” indifferent moody.”
Ahhhhhh…….a typical fishin’ trip with OWL! Haha!! Still, bet a good time was had by all.
Moody is moody.
@Joe – it can’t be any other way, can it? LOL
Nope! That’s why we have so much fun!
Where do I start? I don’t like flaming marshmallows, in fact I don’t like marshmallows period. I saw darn little fly fishing and I’ve got a lump on my forehead the shape of that railing! I did like the Blue Ridge Molehills…er, Mountains. Otherwise, good video!
Well, you didn’t leave much left to like!? I suppose we could have stood on the banks and thrown our flies at the 4500 CFS water, but I just didn’t really feel like it’d be worth the effort. As for the molehills, I guess they’ll just have to do seein’ as it’s what we’ve got. I think my next video will be nothing but fish rising and being released. People say “keep doing what you’re doing” and then I get ragged about the lack of fishing!
LOL Trust me, no one with any sense was doing very much fishing that weekend. ( As a matter of fact the fly shop in town was full of trout bums standing around chatting.)
Sorry if ya didn’t like it. Hope that bump gets better soon!
To be continued…Owl didn’t show you fishing…but you did plenty. And there is a very good explanation on the “rail” story. Trust me…You only got the “embellished” version. It’s looking like Saturday for a total briefing…So, stay calm, Cofisher dear!!
Embellished? Uhhh…the video….she don’t lie.
lol
Looked like a lot of fun.
Glad you guys made the most of it despite the conditions.
Didn’t see your moonwalk though. Bummer.
The Howard music was great.
Can’t believe the water flow in that crik.
Sorry, but I’m totally lost on the cardboard folks. I guess I don’t follow the blogs enough to be up on who and why.
Mark, you no likey the camera? I don’t blame you. Its hard to keep up with crazy man Owl!
Milliam, I suppose the camera isn’t my favorite thing, but then again somebody had to be the brakes to keep the Owl train from running completely off the tracks.
Mark & Milliam – when you two meet, it’ll be like looking in a mirror in alot of ways. I almost called Mark “Milliam” several times over the weekend.
Reminded me alot of my first trip with Milliam where he said about 4 words all day.
LOL ( Mark talked a little more than that….
)
As for the cardboard concept – yeah, I’m a bit “lost” on it too, but you know I just went with it. I think they’re representations of people who’d like to be there. I wanted to catch cardboard howard’s hair on fire, but I was overruled by cardboard howard’s owner. And to be honest with ya, I took cardboard Rebecca out into the creek for her to try the tenkara and she wouldn’t even hold the rod. I had to cast it for her. Honestly, I think Moody is alot more fun…who, by the way, is headed somewhere on a trip right now as I understand it.
Okay I just had a chance to watch this and let me say I want to come fishing with Owl and anyone else you can dig up because you three looked like you were having a lot of fun.
Thanks Bruce! We had as much fun as three anglers denied fishable water could have. Well, if RD would have let me set one of our cardboard guests on fire it would have been more fun, but oh well.
Maybe next time? lol
Fire? Howard didn’t even like it 2 ft away!!! And now you say that you had a fun time…didn’t you say that you were “scarred” for life in the beginning of that video…
Nope. Maybe you should watch it again. I said there were three types of trips, and this was one of them.
Always fun when Owl is around.
Owl-i-poo:
We still on for the 29th?? Send the address/directions for the resort we’re stayin’ at, please!
The resort!? You got us a resort room! cool! But you need directions. OK, now I’m confused.
i’ll email you or something…we’re on like donkey ….you know..
Ugh…why are you always confused when it comes to directions…??? ha
No, not directions. I’m confused as to how it is that Joe apparently got us a Resort reservation but he needs directions. It was dark and raining and there was a forest fire, I’m tellin’ ya!
River Damsel………..could I tell you stories about Owl’s directions and “Owl Time.” Haha! “I swear, it’s just ‘right there’”
Love ya brother!
On like Donkey Kong! See ya next week, you big nut you!
” I don’t remember it being this far…” Hey, I own up to it. I got fisshues.
Indifferent moody…hahahahaha!! Absolutely hilarious.
We were trying to work on him some with that, but then……..he just left. We’re awaiting his “turn up” somewhere now. He’s a little nuts it seems, so who knows where he’ll show up next. Poor Moody. So indifferent to everything he just walks off with perfect strangers.
